Vera DC Interns (2)
Vera’s Washington D.C. office opened in September of 2006. The office grew out of one of Vera’s projects, the Commission on Safety and Abuse in America’s Prisons (CSAAP), a multi-year project based in the District of Columbia. CSAAP sought to make a unique contribution to the national discussion on jail and prison conditions by connecting the most serious problems and abuses inside our jails and prisons with the health and safety of our communities. Since 2006, Vera DC has expanded its mission, partnering with three counties and two states to improve oversight of their jails and prisons, working with the Office of the DC Mayor’s Office to reform the Persons in Need of Supervision (PINS) system, and developing other D.C. based projects. For more information about Vera or CSAAP go to: www.vera.org or www.prisoncommission.org. Application materials should include a resume, cover letter, and 5-page writing sample.
