The Vera Institute of Justice, a leading non-profit based in New York City, focuses on helping leaders in governmental and civil society improve the systems people rely on for justice and safety. We do this by sharing our expertise in research, demonstration projects, and technical assistance with leaders in government and civil society.
The Louis Schweitzer Library at the Vera Institute of Justice seeks a library intern to assist the full time librarian on staff. The library supports the information needs of the Institute and its demonstration projects. The collection contains more than 2,000 books, monographs and government documents; the vast majority of the reports produced by Vera in its 40-year history; approximately 40 serials; and access to hundreds of bibliographic and full-text databases. The focus of the collection is on the social sciences, with social services, criminal justice, research methodology, urban affairs and public welfare as its greatest strengths.

The intern’s main responsibility will focus on updating MARC records for the 2,000+ books and periodical collection using an open source cataloging software. S/he will also help reclassify the library from Dewey to LC.

The intern will report to the Librarian.
